“We are pleased to present Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas with a Golden Pear Grant. Their application was very compelling, and the opportunities they create for children across Northwest Arkansas are critically important” said Deborah Marshall, Chief Operating Officer of the American Fundraising Foundation. “We are grateful for all they are doing to make a difference. The Golden Pear is part of our logo and symbolizes good health, prosperity, longevity and future happiness – all the things we hope for them and the many organizations that impact lives daily.”
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. “We recognize that all children have potential to do incredible things in their lives, but oftentimes do not have access to the people or programs that will help them overcome obstacles preventing them from ever reaching their full potential” said Lance Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas. “We provide children facing adversity with professionally supported mentors that help shape their lives for the better, forever.” Since incorporating locally in 1993, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas has matched thousands of children (Littles) ages 6 to 18 years of age with safe, caring mentors throughout Washington and Benton Counties.
