ENROLL A CHILD

As a parent, you recognize the potential of your child better than anyone. By giving your child the opportunity to be part of Big Brothers Big Sisters, you’re starting them down a path to an even brighter, more promising future.

TWO WAYS FOR BIGS & LITTLES TO SPEND TIME TOGETHER

COMMUNITY-BASED MATCHES

(Meet 2 to 4 times per month for a total of 4 hours)

  • Your child and their Big will get out in the community doing low to no-cost activities (like bake cookies, shoot hoops, picnic in the park, Big cheering them on at their band concert, etc.)

  • We ask that you and your child commit to a year to build a relationship, with the hope, not a guarantee, that your match will last longer.

  • We serve youth in Benton and Washington Counties between the ages of 6-18 years old.

  • A Little could have a Big Brother or Sister, Big Family, or Big Couple.

SITE-BASED MATCHES

(Meet the same day/time each week for an hour at the child’s school)

  • Eat lunch, play games, go to the library, receive tutoring, etc.

  • We ask that both you and your child commit to a year to build a relationship, with the hope, not a guarantee, that your match will last longer.

  • Bigs and Littles only meet at school and not over school breaks like Winter or Summer breaks.

OUR IMPACT

 CHILD SAFETY

Making the best possible match between Little and Big is critical to the growth and development of a child. But before we begin the matching process, we start by thoroughly screening potential Bigs. Big Brothers Big Sisters National Standards of Excellence require each volunteer to complete an extensive screening process that includes:

  • Completion of a formal written application

  • A two hour in-person interview

  • An orientation and training process that outlines the individualized needs of your child and provides information and resources on how to encourage your child’s development

  • Participating in training on child safety offered by Big Brothers Big Sisters staff, and communicating with your child about the training he or she receives.
