TWO WAYS TO SPEND TIME TOGETHER

COMMUNITY-BASED MATCHES

Meet 2 to 4 times per month

Get out in the community doing low to no-cost activities (like bake cookies, shoot hoops, picnic in the park, cheer them on at their band concert, etc.)

We ask that you commit to a year to build a relationship, with the hope your match will last longer.

We serve children in Benton and Washington Counties between the ages of 6-14.

A Little could have a Big Brother or Sister, Big Family, or Big Couple.

SITE-BASED MATCHES

Meet the same day/time each week at the child’s school

Eat lunch, play games, go to the library, receive tutoring, etc.

We ask that you commit to a year to build a relationship, with the hope your match will last longer.

Bigs and Littles only meet at school and not over school breaks like Winter or Summer breaks.

Safety

Child safety is extremely important to us. Big Brothers Big Sisters conducts a thorough background check on every volunteer in our program, and each relationship is closely monitored by a professionally trained Match Support Specialist.

Big Brothers Big Sisters National Standards of Excellence require each volunteer to complete an extensive screening process that includes:

  • Completion of a formal written application
  • Background, fingerprint, and reference checks
  • An in-person interview
  • An orientation and training process that outlines the individualized needs of your child and provides information and resources on how to encourage your child’s development.

Throughout the life of the match, our staff will be in ongoing communication with you, your child, and your child’s Big.
