(Believing in Girls)
Who We Are
Dream B.I.G. (Believing in Girls) is a University of Arkansas student-led mentoring program of the Volunteer Action Center. The program partners women from the University of Arkansas with Big Brothers Big Sisters Northwest Arkansas and J.O. Kelly Middle School in the Springdale School District.
What We Do
University of Arkansas women serve as mentors (Bigs) and are matched with 6th and 7th-grade girls (Littles) at J.O. Kelly Middle School. The program consists of monthly Brave Girl sessions that focus on identity development through community support, cultural awareness, and one of a kind programming.
How to Get Involved
Students can volunteer as mentors. Through Big Brothers Big Sisters, university students (Bigs) are matched with JO Kelly students (Littles).
Mentors will meet once a month for training sessions and Brave Girl Sessions. Bigs will also have the opportunity to have lunch with their littles throughout each month.
Applications for the 2019-2020 academic year will be available from August 1st to September 12th 2019! All interested applicants must attend one info session.
